Apart from innovative programming, the International Short Film Festival is committed to the sustainable promotion of short films.
The International Short Film Festival Winterthur is Switzerland’s most important short film festival. The festival takes place each year in November. It is a popular audience event and an important platform for the short film industry.
In 2012, 16.000 spectators visited the festival and we received 3.800 submissions for the national and international competitions, which offer cash awards that total 42.000 CHF (35.000 Euro) and an in-kind award of 11.500 CHF (9.500 Euro). Since 2005 the festival is connected to the European submission platform reelport. Apart from innovative programming, the International Short Film Festival is committed to the sustainable promotion of short films, for example by maintaining the largest short film archive in Switzerland, containing about 30.000 short films. The archive is available to industry professionals for research purposes all year round.
