Bidayyat for Audiovisual Arts announces the launch of the OPEN CALL for the “introduction to Animation Workshop” for Young filmmakers, audiovisual practitioners, and film students looking to expand the range of their narrative tools, and learn more about animation and the vast creative possibilities it offers.
8 participants will be offered the opportunity to follow a practical and theoretical, hands-on training for 5 days, during which they will explore a range of materials and techniques to create a short-animated sequence in addition to theoretical sessions and films screening that showcase different Animation techniques.

Place of Training Beirut-Lebanon
The training content
5 non-consecutive days (from 10 A.M until 5.P.M), around the following topics:
♦ Case studies of short animated films.
♦ Overview of different animation mediums and techniques, with an emphasis on stop motion animation (object animation, clay animation, puppet, cutout, pixilation..etc).
♦ The creation of a short, animated sequence by each participant, or as a group.
Conditions to apply
♦ Applicants must have some previous experience in the audiovisual field (editing, directing, cinematography, sound, etc.) applicants from plastic arts and applied arts backgrounds are also welcome to apply;
♦ Applicants must be dedicated and available during all days of the training;
♦ Submit a complete application, only complete applications will be considered for the selection.
Selection process
The selection will be done based on the submitted application, motivation of the applicant and his/her previous experience.
Trainer / Lina Ghaibeh
An animation and comics artist, who has worked as a Senior Animator for 15 years and participated with her animations and comics in several international exhibitions and festivals. She is also full-time faculty member in graphic design, at the Department of Architecture and Design at AUB, founding the animation and digital media section of the Graphic Design program since 1993. She teaches courses in motion graphics, stop motion animation, Comics and illustration.
Lina is an identical twin, the evil one.
