Bidayyat in association with Screen Institute Beirut are organizing a training workshop for young filmmakers, under the supervision of trainers Arne Bro and Lotte Mik-Meyer from the National Film School of Denmark. The workshop will take place in Beirut from 29 September till 3 October 2014.
Only 8 applicants will be selected due to the nature of the workshop that necessitates a small number of participants in order to better concentrate on their works.
Syrian and Palestinian Syrian applicants should apply through Bidayyat association. While Lebanese applicants should apply though Screen Institute Beirut. The final selection will be done in coordination between the two associations and the trainers.
What's the objective and method of this workshop?
This workshop seeks to work with filmmakers to reach the narrative visual language specific to each filmmaker by encouraging each filmmaker to find material, methods and forms specific to him.
When will the workshop takes place and who are the best participants?
The workshop will be held in Beirut/Lebanon starting on Monday 29 September and ending on Friday 03 October 2014.
As the workshop's days are five and as each filmmaker has his own complex language, we are keen on working for long hours in order to have time to reach with each filmmaker his personal visual and audio language. Therefore the participants must be available during workshop days starting every day from 9 am to 9 pm. These hours will be rich in discussions and exercises. As the workshop is centered on personal aspects of each filmmaker's language, participants must be willing to delve and search for the roots of their own language so that they can benefit efficiently from the exercises of this workshop.
